Frances R Cooper Induction to Hall of Honor

FRANCES R. COOPER INDUCTED INTO TEXAS HERITAGE HALL OF HONOR

The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo is proud to announce the induction of Mrs. Frances R. Cooper into the Texas Heritage Hall of Honor at the State Fair of Texas. The induction ceremony took place on September 9, 2021 at the Briscoe Carpenter Center on the State Fair of Texas Fairgrounds in Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. Cooper began her career as the secretary to the manager of RGVLS in 1954 and soon became manager herself in 1959.Mrs. Cooper was a key contributor to the growth of RGVLS into one of the largest livestock shows in the state. Mrs. Cooper continued her support of RGVLS even after her retirement in 1986 by becoming a member of the Board of Directors and she remained so until her passing in 2009.Frances Cooper received the Texas Association of Fairs and Events Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 and in 2004 she received the Heritage Award from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions. The Events Center on the RGVLS Showgrounds was dedicated and proudly renamed the Frances R Cooper Event Center. The Champs for Champions Organization also awards an annual scholarship in her honor.

Frances Richmond Cooper was a legacy and a true treasure to The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show &Rodeo. Her support of RGVLS and her love for the youth of 4-H and FFA is unmatched.
